first talk

what are the privacy laws

cookie used in EU including norway etc  then you fall under  those privacy laws

Can individual stop processing of personal data?     Should get consent  but if not directly then OK?   tick box filled in already? will change status presumed???

What is meant by free consent?   Law looking at what this actually means right now.

individual need to show demonstrate  considerable distress,  so hard prove.

is it a criminal offense?   yes but need to prove all the above which seem to be hard and practically make that ability prove impossible?

Compensation if proven,  financial payments can be won and those that had knock on affects

some exemptions:  household exemption  personal family  friends below dunbar number

There is a journalist exemption but apart from that the rules apply ie  not allowed to publish private data with out consent.

data directive EU wide,  UK  a bit more restrictive

open a file is processing  and personal data (even if public already)

law applies to individuals to businesses
